Bud Norris’ injury Sunday adds urgency to Dodgers’ search for starting pitching

With the Los Angeles Dodgers leading the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-3 in the eighth inning Sunday, one fan made a decision to take a break from the game and take a deep look into his phone. Jean Segura leads Arizona with 129 hits, Paul Goldschmidt has 68 RBI and Jake Lamb has 21 home runs. “He’s done a really nice job for us”.

Paul Goldschmidt capped a three-hit night with a bases-loaded double off Pedro Baez (3-2) that finished off Diamondbacks’ rally consisting of six hits and a pair of walks against five Dodger pitchers. In three consecutive innings starting in the sixth, Diamondbacks relief pitchers gave up big home runs. He struck out four and walked one. The Dodgers are off again Monday, their third off day in eight days, which has allowed them to go with four starters and keep from deciding whether Puig should go on the disabled list…. The Diamondbacks are 7-3 in their last 10 Sunday games and 0-4 in Corbins last 4 starts. Gosselin had been called out stretching a single into a double, but the Diamondbacks challenged the call and it was overturned after a 1-minute, 27-second review.

Diamondbacks: LHP Patrick Corbin will make his fourth start of the season against the Dodgers in the series finale on Sunday.

Norris was acquired from the Atlanta Braves after the Dodgers learned that Clayton Kershaw would be heading to the DL back on June 30. Corbin is 0-2 with a 5.51 ERA this year, but has a 2-1 record with a 3.25 ERA in five career starts at Dodger Stadium.
