By winning his fifth race of the season, Byron is now the sole owner of the rookie wins record previously held by Kurt Busch from the 2000 race season.

He’s not there yet.

With the Air Titan and jet dryers on the racetrack, NASCAR attempted to get the race in. If you are confident that you know the driver that will dominate the race, build your lineup around them and fill out your roster with drivers that have a lot of upside through place differential or drivers that are starting just outside the top 10 who have a chance to finish near the front.

“I’ve got to get a little bit smoother in situations where things don’t go our way”, Buescher said.

No need. He was declared the victor after 80 minutes on pit road. A makeshift Victory Lane.

Another driver from a small race team found luck on their side, as Regan Smith, driver of the No. 7 APC Chevrolet, finished third, which is the highest finish for his team, Tommy Baldwin Racing. Drivers with a Chase spot secured enjoyed Buescher’s feel-good victory that broke up the recent Toyota hot streak. “I mean, unbelievable that it happened the way it happened”, he said.
