Slender Man stabbing suspects will stay in adult court

A judge has ruled that the two preteen girls who stabbed a classmate to please a mythical monster named “Slender Man” will stand trial as adults.

Morgan Geyser, 12, and Anissa Weier, now 13, both recently motioned to get their cases back into juvenile court, but those motions were denied on Monday.

Judge Michael Bohren expressed concern about what would happen to the girls after juvenile court supervision ended when they turned 18, since they intentionally tried to kill someone, rather than simply making a mistake.

Payton was stabbed 19 times but survived.

They said the girls planned to stab the classmate during a sleepover but instead decided to commit the crime the next morning in a nearby park.

Juvenile justice reform advocates say it would be a travesty if two teens remain charged as adults in Waukesha’s Slender Man stabbings.

An adult conviction could net them 45 or more years in prison. A dismissal would have let prosecutors refile the case in juvenile court.

He said they are just children.

For the past year, psychiatrists say Morgan Geyser has had little treatment for her schizophrenia, and no medication for the psychotic hallucinations she experiences and the voices she hears.
