Jason Bourne follows the Greengrass/Bourne template established in those sequels, but without having to make things up as they go, the film sometimes feels like imitation Bourne. Being a Bourne film, you gotta have quick kinetic action scenes too, amirite?

Jason Bourne may not have opened to rave reviews in the vein of Universal’s original trilogy, but after pulling in a strong $4.2 million from Thursday night, Paul Greengrass’ franchise revival is all but set to enjoy a commendable opening weekend at the U.S. box office.
The Bourne franchise has always been my favourite action series, topping Bond only because 007 has increasingly gone a bit Bourne himself in recent years (which shows the unsmiling one’s enduring influence).

Yeah, for a movie named “Jason Bourne”, it’s alarming how little he says and how often he’s not on screen. “They’re great travellers. But I’m excited to finish this year of work and take a year off and be at their behest for once”. It’s all over the place! “I knew I didn’t want to do it without him”.
As for stunts, Alicia says that her make-up artists spend the most time covering up the scars on her knees whenever she’s got a big event; “I’m probably one of the most clumsy people”.

Although the number of shootings does necessitate an adult rating, the film’s lack of gore and relatively mild language make this possibly acceptable for older adolescents – especially those who understand that the longer the vehicle chase, the thinner the plot.
