The Texas Rangers, MLB parent club of the Hickory Crawdads, have announced that the club has acquired outfielder Carlos Beltran and cash considerations in a trade with the New York Yankees in exchange for Hickory Crawdads right-handed pitchers Dillon Tate and Erik Swanson, as well as Spokane Indians hurler Nick Green.

“We as an organization, a front office, really believe in this team”, Daniels said. A player to be named later will be included and we can guess it won’t be Joey Gallo.

Three players from those deals have already appeared in the majors this year.

Yasiel Puig expects to be sent to the minors on Tuesday after the Los Angeles Dodgers were unable to trade him at the deadline, according to his agent. “I don’t view it that way at all”. Last week they traded their closer, Aroldis Chapman for four prospects, and they did the same thing with their prized set-up man Andrew Miller, trading him to the Indians for four more prospects. He has been with the Brewers for all six of his major league seasons, hitting.284 in 805 games, and his contract includes a $5.25 million team option for 2017.

The New York Mets have acquired All-Star outfielder Jay Bruce from the Cincinnati Reds for infielder Dilson Herrera and minor league left-hander Max Wotell.

The Dodgers (59-46) couldn’t trade Puig, but they were busy at the deadline as they prepare to chase San Francisco (61-44) over the final two months of the NL West race.

As the trade deadline hits, the Brewers and moving their biggest chips to Texas. “And if it’s not, it might be the next one”. The Rangers were my choice for Beltran as it made too much sense not to target a hot hitting veteran in the a year ago of his contract. That fits right in with his production between 2012 and 2014. d’Arnaud flashed that kind of ability past year, as he hit.268/.340/.485 with a 131 wRC+ in 268 plate appearances, with most of his success coming after he returned from his second stint on the disabled list.

Lucroy said simply that there were “circumstances that came up” that caused him to block the deal.

After weeks of speculation, the Milwaukee Brewers have dealt All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy and right-hander Jeremy Jeffress to the Texas Rangers for three prospects.

Just a year ago, the Rangers showed their willingness to part with prospects for proven big-leaguers when they traded a package of players to the Phillies for Cole Hamels.

Adding Lucroy is an upgrade over the Rangers’ current catching tandem of Robinson Chirinos and Bobby Wilson – one of whom will likely be designated for assignment. The big difference, however, is the Rangers have two top-of-the-rotation starters in Cole Hamels and Yu Darvish to help ease the burden on the relievers.

Ortiz, 20, has struggled a bit this season, going 1-4 with a 5.67 ERA in nine appearances (eight starts) for Class AA Frisco but has struck out 34 batters and walked only seven in 39 2/3 innings of work. The Rangers also anticipate the return in late August or early September of right-hander Colby Lewis (strained right lat) and lefty Derek Holland (shoulder inflammation). Stearns said there was no chance of re-working the deal with Cleveland. “In part, because we’ve gotten good reports on those guys coming back”.
