RORY McILROY, the world No.1, has declared himself fit enough to defend his PGA Championship title at Whistling Straits this week.

He still hasn’t said officially that he will play, perhaps waiting to test his ankle over the weekend.
The focus at the PGA Championship, especially at Whistling Straits, starts with the two players who have attracted the most attention in the major tournaments this year – Jordan Spieth because he is winning them, Dustin Johnson because he is not.
Graeme McDowell said he has been texting with McIlroy to check in on him without asking about when he will play. “At Augusta, I felt like I really played such good golf”. So many big names that can crop up, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a leaderboard like last week’s when you had five of the top seven players in the world right up there contending for the title.
