Husker punter Foltz killed in auto crash

What he said early on might have sufficed, however, summing up a young life taken away.

Meyer, who knew the route home, pulled out a couple minutes later. You know people like that – they’re just fun to talk to. God used them in so many ways. “Of course, like I also said to them, some are teammates of Sam’s, some are teammates and friends that have grown up with him”.

Foltz, 22, and Sadler, 24, both died at the scene. “I always say to try and be a light, and he truly was a light in this world”, he continued. That is not the objective of this. It is just to be together.

“The amusing thing was, my personal statement in my application process was actually about beating Stanford in the Rose Bowl, so as soon as they opened that up, they must have been like, ‘Hmm, this could be entertaining for us, so, ‘” he told the station in May.

Former Michigan State All-America punter Mike Sadler was tragically killed in a vehicle accident Saturday night in Wisconsin. Delahoussaye, a Louisiana State kicker, had burns to his legs and required stitches. “Traveling could be rough on him”, she said. “Sam was universally loved and respected by everyone he touched and on whom he had a positive influence each and every day”.

Foltz, a multi-sport athlete who turned down scholarship offers from smaller schools to walk on at Nebraska, began as a receiver his redshirt-freshman year but quickly focused on punting. He was presented the scholar-athlete award at the Spartan Academic Excellence Gala three consecutive years (2013-15) for having the highest GPA on the team for players who have reached at least junior academic status.

IU kicker Griffin Oakes, a Greenwood alum and the league’s reigning kicker of the year, also offered his condolences when the news broke Sunday, taking to Twitter to call Foltz and Sadler “the faces of Big Ten punters”.

Foltz and former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler died in a single-car crash around Saturday night after working at a kicking clinic. “I feel like he’s going to have a more hard time recovering from this emotionally than physically”. “This guy’s really good”. He also received a master’s degree in public policy two years later with a 3.84 graduate GPA.

The University of Nebraska said Sunday coach Mike Riley and student-athletes Tommy Armstrong, Josh Banderas and Jordan Westerkamp will not participate in Big Ten Media Day scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in Chicago.

We mourn today with the Foltz and Sadler families.

Nebraska coach Mike Riley and AD Shawn Eichorst issued statements about Foltz.

Nebraska chancellor Ronnie Green confirmed the news to the Omaha World-Herald on Sunday. Delahoussaye did not attempt a field goal last season. He didn’t have to stay after practice to do it. He surely was exhausted and wanted to get out of the heat and back to his place to relax.
