The wait for Galaxy Note lovers is over as Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 7 at Unpacked 2016 in NY. “Powering a robust ecosystem, it is the ideal device for those who want to achieve more in life”, said DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. The new Note 7 phone comes weeks before Apple is expected to announce new models. As seen on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the Galaxy Note 7 comes with an expandable storage option that supports upto 256GB. The Galaxy Note 7 features incredibly impressive hardware and software, much of it unmatched in the space, but we wanted to highlight some of the main features you should know about. The S-Pen also gets a few software features like the ability to create GIFs out of videos by selecting the start and end point or to translate words by hovering the S-Pen over them. Users can store sensitive documents and apps in the directory, which remain encrypted even if the phone is unlocked. It weighs in at 168 grams, lighter than the Note 5 by three grams, and measures 153.5mm x 73.9mm x 7.9mm. In the future, the iris recognition technology will be used to authenticate secure purchases that are made with Samsung Pay.

The device is water resistant, including the S-pen stylus. The new pen tip is about 60 percent smaller than its predecessor, measuring 0.7mm. A free Galaxy Gear VR will also be included in pre-order deals from selected retailers. There’s a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor (in other regions it’ll be Samsung’s own Exynos 8890) and 4GB of RAM in tow. These memories can then be shared with friends via platforms including YouTube 360, Facebook or Samsung VR, the company’s premium virtual reality service, and can be relived with the ultra-immersive Gear VR.
The release announcing the new Gear VR for Note 7 seems to indicate that there will be an open USB port for connecting accessories, though it’s unclear if it will be a full-sized USB port or something else.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 gets a similar Dual-Pixel camera seen on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. 7 aperture, IP68-certified water/dust resistance and MicroSD card support of up to 256GB. The Galaxy Note 7 supports LTE Cat 9 speeds, and is the first Samsung smartphone with a USB Type-C connection in place of microUSB.

Earlier today some reports indicated that Galaxy Note 7 will launch in India on August 11. You can also opt to get it for the full retail price of $849.99, T-Mobile will carry the Blue Coral, Black Onyx, and Silver Titanium color versions of the device.
