Reggie Bush visiting Buffalo Bills, reportedly expected to sign

The Buffalo Bills are expected to sign free agent running back Reggie Bush, who visited with the team Monday. He dealt with a lingering calf injury, and then his season came to a premature end when he suffered a torn meniscus after a freak incident during a game in St. Louis. When adding in his production as a receiver, Bush has surpassed 1,000 yards from scrimmage five times in a career that began with New Orleans and included a two-year stint in Miami.

Bush was the most efficient as a receiver in 2013 with the Lions, snagging 54 passes from Matthew Stafford for 503 yards (9.4 yards per catch) with three touchdowns.

Aaron Wilson covers the Texans for The Houston Chronicle. He was limited by a calf strain early on in the season, seeing just eight carries and four catches in five games while Carlos Hyde ran away with the every-down role.

This marks the fifth team Bush has played for since being selected second overall by the Saints in the 2006 NFL Draft.

It looks like the Reggie Bush deal is going to get done in Buffalo. “I’m just looking forward to getting out here. After this season is over, and granted that I’m able to stay healthy and be myself, I’ll make a decision after that and see”. Neither of those jobs are settled for the Bills, and with experience doing both, Bush could become the odds on favorite to win those jobs if the team would like to subject him to it.

The Bills are adding a punt returner first.

He’ll back up LeSean McCoy (who is awaiting to hear if he will receive a suspension despite not being charged after a Philadelphia bar fight) and will compete for time with Jonathan Williams and Mike Gillislee.

Bush said he’s had no previous relationship with McCoy, but is eager to build one. “We fumbled three punts, we weren’t very explosive in the return game, so we’re definitely trying to improve in that area”. The rehab process went extremely smooth and I was back to full strength months ago.

“I’m a fan”, Bush said.
