Former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko gave the Serie A side the lead before young winger Sheyi Ojo headed the Reds level just before half-time.

Liverpool’s £25million signing Georginio Wiljnaldum is optimistic of winning his first premier league title with The Reds next season.

“We weren’t compact in the first half and had too big spaces between the positions, so almost every offensive action of Roma was a chance”.

Salah, though, would restore Roma’s lead in the second-half, as the Egypt worldwide capitalised on a defensive error from Andre Wisdom to score following Alessandro Florenzi’s cross.

A second half introduction against AC Milan sparked a listless match, with Ojo looking very much the danger man as he capped his performance with a deflected assist to Firmino to seal the victory.

“Sometimes you reach more, sometimes less”. That’s what I always said.

However, speaking after the game, the reds boss confirmed that the injury is not too serious: “yes, [he is OK] – dead leg in the hamstring”. Thirteen days in the United States of America and the hardest circumstances tonight at the end, after a lot of intensive sessions and then this wet heat. “We have a little bit of a problem at centre-half, they always have to play and we have to see how we can find a solution for this game”. So the games we play, against Liverpool and Montreal, are so important for us because we show how we can play.

‘In some offensive situations, we played really well. I am happy that no-one is injured.
