One suspect was also reportedly injured in the shooting and his condition was also unknown, according to the Times. An officer who was in the patrol auto that was crashed into suffered a back injury and was taken to the hospital.

The shooting took place near the 15000 block of Hawthorne Boulevard in Lawndale.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide detectives were responding to the scene of the shooting to investigate, Deputy Mike Barraza said.

The suspect was driving a black SUV in the parking lot of the hotel, according to reports released by deputies late Tuesday.

Broadcast footage of the scene showed a police vehicle hood-to-hood with the suspect’s auto, a newer model black GMC Yukon with a bullet-riddled windshield.

Multiple officers fired at the suspect, who was struck at least once in the upper torso. The victim’s windshield had several bullet holes.
