With the official release done, Samsung’s reasoning behind this jump in numbering is to “unify the numbering with its flagship model Galaxy S7 to better communicate with customers”.

Barely more than a fortnight will pass between today’s announcement and the on-sale date of the newest Galaxy Note smartphone.
With a dual edge curved screen, Samsung’s latest phablet sports a 5.7-inch (about 14.5 cm) QHD Super Amoled screen and is powered by the company’s octa-core processor.

CNNMoney got an early look at the Note 7 ahead of the announcement. It will also run with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
That’s a huge incentive to pre-order the Note7. The front is a 5MP shooter with a f/1.7 aperture as well.
The Note 7 also features an iris scanner, allowing users to unlock the device through the recognition of their eyes – the first such application for a Samsung smartphone.
The Galaxy Note7 comes with fingerprint scanner, which is embedded on the home button on the front.
Besides the USB-C to MicroUSB adapter, the new Gear VR has added some other improvements.
Samsung has just lifted the cover off a brand new version of its virtual reality headset: the Samsung Gear VR.
While it isn’t hard to tell without extensive usage if the S Pen with the Galaxy Note 7 is more intuitive and easy to use than the one in Galaxy Note 5, the new S Pen has arrived with several new features to let you work it with greater ease than ever before. In the meantime, the Galaxy Note7 will be going on sale in select countries on August 19, and it will be available in Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx colors.

Compared to its predecessor (the Note 5), the Note 7 is an unquestionable upgrade in design.
