Trump gives a last fiery plea to unite the party
“We’ve got to figure out whatever we have to do. Whatever pride needs to be swallowed, needs to be swallowed tonight”, delegate Spencer Stokes said at the group’s final breakfast meeting.

Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump introduced her father, describing him as a kind and compassionate man in an appeal to female voters.
“We want politicians to stand on principle and then whenever they do, if it’s not the principle we like, we’re not so much into them standing on principle”, Kasich said. Well, I don’t think he speaks for most Americans, do you? “And I talk this way, because we’re all together”.
Another yelled “The party has spoken!” at Cruz as he was speaking to the delegation.
“We haven’t done anything in the last three days we should be ashamed of”.
Cruz said Trump never asked him for an endorsement.
There was also a speech from PayPal cofounder Peter Thiel, who became the first delegate to reference his sexuality in an address at a Republican convention.
“I have joined the political arena so that the powerful can no longer beat up on people that cannot defend themselves”, Trump said.
Trump, who gave Cruz the moniker “Lyin’ Ted” throughout his campaign, dragged Cruz’s family members into the primary spotlight several times over the last months the Texas senator remained in the race.
He said it was “dismaying” that Trump supporters booed him from the floor when he encouraged Republicans to “vote their conscience” in November.
New York Republican Chair Ed Cox said Trump “did exactly what he needed to do”.
Trump himself declared Cruz’s move “no big deal!” in a late-night Twitter post Wednesday. Without a unified and excited base, she says it will be hard for a nominee to defeat Hillary Clinton.
Heidi Cruz, he said, is the “best thing” Cruz has going for him, and, “by the way, is a very nice woman and a very handsome woman”. A third told Cruz to “Stop spinning it!” “It was surreal” and shows the divisions within the party.
“That has to be undone if this party is to ever be the party that Reagan and conservatives have wanted it to be, and that is truly the party of the people”, she said.

“I am the law and order candidate”, Trump repeated throughout the night, playing judge and jury to Clinton, Obama, terrorism and Washington insiders. But Thursday, he made no excuses and pointed the finger back at Trump. The campaign previously touted raising $3.5 million online in a 24-hour period, tied to Indiana Gov. Mike Pence’s speech Wednesday to the convention crowd.
