Campaign 2016-Trump-Election story

Mr Trump has made similar comments before in relation to the Democratic race, suggesting the party fixed its system to favour nominee Hillary Clinton over her challenger Bernie Sanders.

Speaking to a crowd in Columbus, Ohio, Trump said the total he raised in July with the Republican National Committee might be even larger as more checks are tabulated.

As the controversy over his comments about the Muslim family of a fallen soldier rages on, Donald Trump now claims he fears the general election will be rigged.

Donald Trump suggested on Monday that United States democracy can be rigged.

He later repeated the claim on Fox News, adding “I hope the Republicans are watching closely or it’s going to be taken away from us”.

Speaking on Monday, CNN reports that Trump claimed that he had heard “more and more” rumours that the USA election result will be fixed.

Rather than security and safety concerns, Trump hinted there is a grand conspiracy against his campaign in which the Mayor of Columbus – the boss of the fire marshal – played his role, however small, within the grander political ploy orchestrated by the omnipresent Democrats and “the liberal media”.

It’s certainly not the first time Trump has complained about a rigged election. “She’s the devil. He made a deal with the devil”. “I said very simply, they’re not gonna do it on my watch, essentially”, Trump told reporters before adding, “wouldn’t it be great if we actually got along with Russian Federation?”

The event in OH was Trump’s first campaign appearance since the onset of his tussle with the parents of Khizr and Ghazala Khan, Muslims whose Army veteran son was killed in Iraq in 2004.

Khizr Khan and his wife, Ghazala, appeared on stage at last week’s Democratic convention, where he said Trump had “sacrificed nothing and no one” for his country.

“My husband asked me if I wanted to speak, but I told him I could not”, she wrote.

“Donald Trump said he has made a lot of sacrifices”. That’s what freedom sounds like’.

“While our party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us”. He added that Trump had great respect for veterans.
