Donald Trump supporters defend his remarks on Khizr Khan at Pennsylvania rally

Illinois Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kirk is criticizing his party’s nominee for President, Donald Trump, for Trump’s decision to attack a Muslim family, whose son died fighting for the U.S. Army in Iraq. John McCain, who said that while Trump may be the GOP party’s nominee, he does not not have “unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us”.

“The Clinton machine. they don’t care who they use, they just them”, he said.

Khizr Khan and his wife, Ghazala, have made multiple television appearances since last week’s convention, when Khan criticized Trump’s proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the country.

Trump stoked further outrage by implying Ghazala Khan did not speak while standing alongside her husband at the convention because she is a Muslim woman. She probably-maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say.

Trump responded to the impassioned speech by calling out the Khan family for viciously attacking him.

Trump is now rightfully drawing criticism from multiple sources and both sides of the political aisle for his disparaging comments about this Gold Star family.

In an open letter, 23 families who have lost their sons in war, known as “Gold Star” families, described Trump as cheapening their sacrifice and called for him to apologise. “We honor those who wear the uniform, are grateful for their bravery, and celebrate their diversity”, she said.

Khizr Khan: “Donald Trump, you’re asking Americans to trust you with their future”.

The controversy stems from Trump’s questioning of Ghazala Khan, the mother of U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan, a Muslim-American who was killed in 2004 by a vehicle bomb in Iraq.

Humayun Khan had emigrated with his family from the United Arab Emirates at the age of 2 and had hoped to become a military lawyer.

Trump has yet to backtrack on his comments. We’re a better country because of you. I think it gives them the right to say whatever they want, whether they’re right or wrong. And he should listen to America, what America and the world is telling about the remarks, about the lack of empathy.

“Mr. Trump created the opening in our conservative movement for the Democrats to drive into that and even after that, his back and forth is an embarrassment”, said Jasser.

Representatives of a group called Vets Vs. Hate protested outside of Trump Tower for Donald Trump's criticism of a speech at the Democratic National Convention by the father of Army Capt. Humayun Khan
