Cotton suggests Trump apologize to dead soldier’s family
Instead, Trump said he was “afraid the election is going to be rigged”, echoing complaints he made during the Republican primaries despite his series of victories.

In a statement, McCain said Trump’s disparaging of a fallen soldier’s parents was against the views of the Republican party. At one point, he said he was “viciously attacked” by Khan and claimed that Ghazala Khan didn’t speak at the Democratic convention because of her faith.
“We know there isn’t anything we can say or do that will bring their loved one back”, Gibson wrote.
Trump has drawn criticism over his response to a speech at last week’s Democratic National Convention given by the father of Capt. Humayun Khan.
Republican Senator John McCain, a former prisoner of war and the most prominent veteran in Congress, along with the commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, has joined the chorus of condemnation, reflecting the highly regarded place the military and its veterans hold with many in the United States.
Trump responded to Khan’s speech during the weekend by saying he has sacrificed for his country by employing thousands of people. Trump should have thanked the Khans for their son’s service and their collective sacrifice and moved on.
“Most gold star families, at the loss of their son or daughter, brother, sister, husband or wife, they’re not looking at it from a political perspective”, said Clovis.
She followed this up with an op-ed in the Washington Post Sunday.
In the interviews with ABC and The New York Times, Trump also implied that Khan’s wife Ghazala, who stood next to him on stage at the convention, didn’t say anything because her religion prevented her from speaking. “Donald Trump remains the only candidate in this race with the strength to combat this threat and to keep Americans safe, which is why my support for him will not waver”.
Ecklund, a Marine Corp veteran, said it was “so disrespectful to demonize a Gold Star family that only should be honored”.
“You have sacrificed nothing and no one”, Khan said. “You tell me. But plenty of people have written that”.
Many political prognosticators believed those comments would be the end of Trump’s surprising presidential bid. The father, Khizr Khan, challenged Trump’s comments on banning Muslims while holding up a pocket-sized copy of the Constitution. “He can get up and malign the entire nation”, said Khizr Khan.
