Instagram introduces Snapchat-like feature called ‘Stories’
Snapchat introduced Stories this morning.

The feature closely mirrors Stories on Snapchat, where users upload Snaps to their Story for others to view. A year later, Facebook launched Slingshot, an independent app that mimicked Snapchat’s disappearing features.
Rather than being added to your main feed, these posts will be gathered together in a slideshow format, known as “Your Story”.
Now, here’s where Instagram comes in.
That much is clear from a new feature the Facebook-owned app announced on Tuesday called Stories.
Instagram Stories will now be visible at the top of your home feed in the form of small circled-profile pictures. Now there’s a way to post photos and videos that disappear from the site after 24 hours.
You can even add text and doodles to your photos and videos. See?
This latest feature, even its name, may be far from original, but that might not matter to Instagram’s 300 million daily users.
It’s unclear whether marketers will be able to play on Instagram Stories. If your account is private, only people who you’ve authorized to follow you can see your story; if you don’t want a follower to see a particular story, like your boss, you can hide it from that person.
“When there’s something new to see, their profile photo will have a colorful ring around it”.
“With Instagram Stories, you don’t have to worry about overposting”, reads the blog post. If your account is private, only your followers may view it. You can also swipe up while viewing your story to see who’s seen each photo and video.
InstagramHow does Instagram Stories work?
Instagram’s Help Center has several step-by-step guides that explain everything you need to know.
People now share various photos and videos of Instagram, whether it’s an artistic nature shot, a swiftly filtered selfie, an artsy shot of your food or something of the sorts. However, this next part is where IG Stories differs from Snapchat Stories.
“They deserve all the credit”, Kevin told TechCrunch.
