Racing Against the Rain at Pocono
As was mentioned in yesterday’s article, fans should download the free NBC live extra app to their mobile device to watch the NASCAR live stream, or use a computer to watch the NBCSN live video of today’s NASCAR race online directly from the website.

LONG POND, Pa. (AP) – Chris Buescher sat in his Ford, hoping that the fog would stick over Pocono and the cloud over the rookie’s middling season would start to lift.
Pocono Raceway announced that parking lots will open at 7 a.m. and gates will open at 8 a.m. A ticket will be required to attend.
“We’ve been seeing a trend in speed through the last eight weeks and knew we were on the upwards climb”. With radar indicating impending showers, NASCAR officials called the race.
At the drivers’ meeting Sunday morning, Pocono president and CEO Brandon Igdalsky said one of the largest crowds in recent years was expected for the race, too.
“I’m a little scared to get out”, Buescher said. “It really hurts for them”. He may have schooled us all today. “And I think he was excited, but he’s kind of the humble, quiet, excited kind of guy”. We’re having to seek shelter. If the track had lights and if the rain persisted, they could potentially still push the race into primetime and maintain somewhat of an audience. The following day saw drier and milder conditions which enabled the race to go on. “We needed about three more laps (before the fog), but it is what it is”.
“You never like to see this”, said Kurt Culbert, NASCAR’s managing director. The forecast called for more continuous rain.
NASCAR has had their share of moments where they deserve to be looked at with a critical eye but that doesn’t mean that every situation should be handled the same way by fans.
It was a day late, but Front Row Motorsports’ Buescher, won a weather-shortened Pennsylvania 400 after the race was postponed from its original Sunday start time.
Drops of rain had been spotted throughout the race earlier on, and there were rumors that the running was going to be stopped at the midway point, leading to a series of frantic pit stops preparing for the 80-lap mark. With that said, there’s a difference between the cars Buescher has driven this year and those prepared for Greg Biffle, Trevor Bayne and Ricky Stenhouse, a trio now outside of the provisional Chase Grid. “Then that storm hit”.
It was really the first time in his Xfinity career that Armstrong got to compete in a well-funded and organized team with Gibbs Racing.
On July 30, 1979, Cale Yarborough won the Coca-Cola 500. The pole-sitter hunkered down with the lead and stayed there for 16 laps.
Pocono had more pressing problems. Brad Keselowski has been runner-up three times and his teammate Joey Logano won past year for the first time on a road course. It was a far cry from the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, where Truex led 588 of 600 miles, a NASCAR record for a single race. He dedicated the victory to his grandmother Thelma Clark, who died the previous week. Jeff Gordon is subbing for Dale Earnhardt Jr.in the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet for the second-consecutive race, as Earnhardt continues his recovery from concussion-like symptoms….

My top pick for the weekend started as Matt Kenseth, but after practices and qualifying morphed into fellow Toyota driver Martin Truex Jr. All gate-admission tickets for Sunday will be honored and pre-race pit/paddock passes are valid. RV and camping guests can stay through the end of the race, but will not be allowed to stay overnight tonight.
