Yanks Go Yard Radio Show: 2016 Trade Deadline Review

It’s a business. I’ve played with guys on pretty much every team at this point, so it seems like every series I’m facing somebody I know in some form. It’s a time I’m going to look back at fondly. He was tremendous Thursday night in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The news that Miller woke to Sunday has left him numb. For him to say that, it obviously shows he’s on board with that. Day certainly put the pressure on Walker, but Walker kept cool and was able to deliver for his first major championship.

If Bryan Shaw can avoid his occasional bad outing, the Indians will have a 7-8-9 punch of Shaw, Miller and Allen that can make any lead heading into the seventh inning a unsafe one. Guess it speaks to more to the fact of how many really good golfers there are on tour right now. Were not thinking about two years from now, were thinking about winning in 2016.”.

Clippard, who was drafted by the Yankees in the ninth round back in 2003, received his first big league shot in 2007. One can only hope yes. “I know when we go into NY (this) week, we don’t have to face Andrew Miller, which will be really nice”.

The former Indians farmhands now join Gleyber Torres, Billy McKinney and Rashad Crawford – all acquired from the Chicago Cubs for Aroldis Chapman – as the latest additions to New York’s minor leagues.

Those plans could change, of course, if Ivan Nova or another starting pitcher is traded before Monday’s deadline. Nor should we expect GMs to be true to their word when speaking with the media.

The general manager, speaking on a conference call Thursday, was noticeably upbeat when talking about Clint Frazier, Justus Sheffield, Ben Heller and J.P. Feyereisen, the four-prospect package NY received from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for Miller.

The move is something that had been talked about for a while as the Indians have been looking at relief pitchers all summer to bolster a bullpen that’s been the one Achilles heel of the club. “It stinks leaving and it’s sad to leave because I was with them for three years”. But ultimately this is a good team. Both the Indians and the Cubs have suffered for decades now though the Cubs have suffered significantly longer than the Indians. Wouldn’t that make headlines? The deal came less than 12 hours after the Indians had agreed on the parameters of a swap with the Brewers for All-Star C Jonathan Lucroy.

The Baltimore Orioles acquired Wade Miley in a trade with the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, giving manager Buck Showalter an experienced lefty for his rotation as the team tries to hold off Toronto and Boston for the division title.

However, that trade was stopped by Lucroy, who refused to waive his no-trade clause, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press. The Indians declined and at least for now Lucroy remains a member of the Brewers.

We’ll see if any other big trades go down today.

In reality, Miller learned about the trade when a phone call from Yankees general manager Brian Cashman awakened him with the news at 8 a.m. on July 31.

The Yankees made another move Sunday involving their bullpen, acquiring reliever Tyler Clippard from the Arizona Diamondbacks, as first reported by FanRag Sports and confirmed by ESPN’s Jim Bowden.
