Al Baldasaro (seen with Donald Trump at a May campaign event) is spreading a conspiracy theory about Khizr Khan. Kelly Ayotte, who also admonished Trump for his comments. Below, we answer those, and more. He had told the remainder of his troops to step back from the vehicle, which saved their lives; Khan was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Khizr Khan challenged Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump by saying, ” You have sacrificed nothing and no one”. The Khan family are American citizens, and also Muslim.
“There’s no question that Donald Trump is making it very hard for House and Senate candidates who are running on the ballot in November”, said Brian Walsh, a GOP strategist and former spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
Even then, Trump couldn’t leave the matter alone.
I could not help but be moved to tears by Khan’s speech.
Khan told host Anderson Cooper he doesn’t need an apology.
The furor surrounds Trump’s accusations against Khizr and Ghazala Khan, whose son was killed in Iraq in 2004. “I wouldn’t have been in the war”.
The suspicions surrounding Trump’s draft deferment heap onto a general wariness some veterans and current service members feel toward the candidate. “For all these years, I haven’t been able to clean the closet where his things are – I had to ask my daughter-in-law to do it. Walking onto the convention stage, with a huge picture of my son behind me, I could hardly control myself. And it looked like she had nothing to say”.
“And I said, ‘Man, that’s like big stuff”.
“In recent days, Donald Trump disparaged a fallen soldier’s parents”, said McCain, who was taken prisoner during the Vietnam War. Ghazala Khan responded in an op-ed for the Washington Post. “And had they won, I would have been disappointed, but I would have said to all Americans, this is our president, and I know they’re going to abide by certain norms and rules and common sense, will observe basic decency, will have enough knowledge about economic policy and foreign policy, and our constitutional traditions and rule of law that our government will work”, Obama said. Her son Corey was killed in combat operations in Iraq. “I’ve served in Afghanistan and I served in Iraq around the same time as Captain Humuyan Khan”.
Ghazala later did speak out in response to Trump’s remarks, writing in an op-ed that “Trump criticised my silence”. “[This behavior] is totally unfit for the leadership of this country”, he said. A memo circulated by Trump’s aides Tuesday to his campaign surrogates urged them to express gratitude for the Khans’ sacrifice, but added that Trump had a “right to defend himself”, according to a person who received the document. It’s disappointing that other Texas leaders, who readily wrap themselves in the flag when it suits their political goal, have not come to the defense of this Gold Star family. Groups representing Gold Star parents demanded an apology. Sen.
Do you think Trump should apologize to the Khan family?
