Indians get Miller from Yankees, can’t get Lucroy’s OK
The deal came less than 12 hours after the Indians had reached an agreement on the parameters of a swap with Milwaukee for Brewers All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy. “That’s it. I’m not going to comment on any specifics, nothing like that, as much as I’d like to”. I think I’ve been pretty consistent with the Yankees and hopefully that has shown and I’ll just be the same way here – however I can help the team. When he saw the name of Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, Miller knew what to expect.

Frazier, the highlight of the deal, was Cleveland’s No 1. prospect.
“It certainly should help us a lot”, Francona said before the Indians beat the Oakland Athletics 8-0 to complete a three-game sweep. “This is new to me, obviously, but it’s tough when you see good friends go”. For the Indians, he’s likely to be a lot more than just a LOOGY, however, as he will likely fit in for either the 7th or 8th based on the timing of the opposition’s lineup, taking some of the strain off Bryan Shaw and setting up for closer Cody Allen. Case in point, the Yankees who have traded Andrew Miller to the Cleveland Indians for four prospects headlines by outfielder Clint Frazier and pitcher Justus Sheffield.
The Yankees are one of only two teams (the other being the Astros) with seven players in MLB’s Top 100 prospects. The club has resisted parting with top prospects in the past, but team owner Paul Dolan and the front office believe this is a year worth going for it.
“We’re very excited by what we got”, he said. “It is why we engage with multiple teams throughout the entirety of the negotiation”. They know they’re going to pitch with a lead or if the game is tied at home.
The move also gives Manager Terry Francona a 1-2 punch that projects to be the best bullpen in baseball.
Johnny David- Jul 31, 2016 The New York Yankees are starting a rare rebuilding process after trading some of their best players at the deadline.
He now owns the sixth-lowest relief ERA.
Clippard was drafted by the Yankees in 2003, made six starts as a rookie in 2007 and then was traded to Washington.
Cleveland’s starters have also thrived this season, pitching to the best ERA in the league.
The 24-year-old Campos is 9-3 with a 3.20 ERA this year in 20 combined starts for Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Baltimore Orioles have acquired left-hander Wade Miley in a trade with the Seattle Mariners. He’s pitched before him in the seventh and eighth inning.
Seattle received left-hander Ariel Miranda.
He struck out, on average, more than one batter per inning each year, but did not earn the chance to be a closer until the Yankees turned him loose on the American League in 2015. He appeared in one game for Baltimore on July 3 at Seattle, allowing 3 runs and 4 hits in 2 innings. Frazier was selected by the Indians with the fifth pick in the 2013 draft; Sheffield was drafted by Cleveland in the first round of the 2014 draft.
