The first major Windows 10 update is here

Since the Windows 10 Anniversary Update arrived today, the feature is arriving to Windows Maps just in time.

If all that sounds too complicated, the simplest way to get the Anniversary Update is to just wait – assuming you have automatic updates enabled.

If Windows doesn’t prompt you to download the update automatically, you can manually initiate the download by navigating to the OS’s Setting menu. By clicking on the update button, users can initiate the download and installation of the Anniversary Update. The good news is that you’re not really missing much. The update also includes a faster, more accessible and more power-efficient Microsoft Edge browser.

There is a new feature called the “Windows ink”, enabling users to use their Windows 10 device like piece of paper.

A few days ago, the deadline to receive your free upgrade to Windows 10 expired, and if you’ve missed it and still want to upgrade, you’ll have to buy the full license. It would be able to disable the workaround with an update to the Get Windows 10 app. Now you’ll be able to sort, manage and see more of your Game Collection easily, quickly access your own “Ready to Install” tab, update your games or apps using the new “Updates” tab, and get more information about titles in your queue. If you use assistive technology on Windows, you are eligible for the free upgrade offer.

The Anniversary Update is the equivalent of a first service pack for Windows 10, though it delivers a number of notable new features, including improved security, digital inking capabilities and a more prominent Cortana digital assistant.

As of last month, Microsoft’s goal was to release Windows 10 Anniversary, codenamed Redstone 1, simultaneously in its various flavors: PCs, tablets, Windows Phones, Surface Hubs, Xbox One consoles and HoloLens.
