‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel in the Works, Release Date Set
With Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them just a little over three months away from hitting theaters, Warner Bros. has announced its plans for a sequel, which the studio has dated for November 16, 2018.

J.K. will pen the new film and David Yates will return to direct the second film.
Director David Yates (the final four “Harry Potter” films) will again take the helm, having recently completed work on “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”.
The news is welcome but not surprising.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released in theaters on November 18, 2016. And Warner Bros. has already been mapping out a trilogy for the new franchise, with Rowling revealing in March that Fantastic Beasts would turn into three movies.
Fantastic Beasts will also star Inherent Vice’s Katherin Waterston as Porpentina Goldstein, Colin Farrell as Percival Graves, and Ezra Miller as Credence – though the plot remains tightly under wraps.
It’s a good time to be a Harry Potter fan, at least if you’re the kind of Harry Potter fan that wants more Harry Potter. This past weekend marked the official premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a play touted as “the eighth Harry Potter story”, and the release of its script.

Wizarding world creator J.K. Rowling, who made her screenwriting debut on the first film, is scripting the sequel.
