A portion of I-70 was shut down in both directions Wednesday after a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a dump truck.

The accident happened shortly before 5 a.m., when the collision caused the dump truck to roll over and the tractor-trailer to jackknife in the westbound lanes of the interstate, the supervisor said. The drivers have not yet been identified.

Authorities say a nurse who stopped to help after a crash on a western Maryland highway accidentally fell from a bridge after jumping over a concrete wall.

Investigators say a nurse who pulled over and was running to the scene to assist jumped over a jersey wall believing that there was a median on the other side.

A nurse fell almost 100 feet into a river this morning after stopping to help two drivers who were involved in a crash. The driver of the dump truck was also taken to Shock Trauma. Traffic is being diverted to MD Route 144 while crews working on clearing the road.
