No CW crossovers planned yet for CBS’ new series ‘Supergirl’ starring Melissa

Supergirl made her debut appearance in 1959 Action Comics, and Berlanti and Kreisberg worked to maintain the DNA of the character while pulling the story-telling inspiration from Richard Donner’s well-known “Superman” films that starred Christopher Reeve in 1978 and 1980. [‘Girl’] doesn’t just mean young and inconsequential. Just like Lois, she is often depicted as a brash, adventurous type of girl who is willing to risk her life to get a story.

Kreisberg stated that, “Like in the comic books, the Non that you saw in “Superman II” had been lobotomized, and when we meet him he won’t have been lobotomized yet”. During the panel, the producers also revealed that other comic book characters would be appearing – including Red Tornado and General Zod.

There has been a lot of speculation about a cross-network storyline between CBS and The CW, since producer Greg Berlanti works on Supergirl as well as Arrow and The Flash. In addition, Livewire would be making her way into the show as well, most likely as another villain for Kara to square-off against.

Later on, Berlanti explained that he takes the same approach to writing a woman superhero as he does with a man: “We have a similar formula for all the shows regardless of the gender of the character”. Lucy Lance is the alter-ego of Superwoman, but THR as reported by Screenrant said that Lucy will come out not as Superwoman right away but as her non powered side to not over shadow the budding Supergirl.

I still don’t know what to make of Supergirl.

Rounding out the cast are Mehcad Brooks as Superman’s best friend James Olsen, David Harewood plays spy organization operative Hank Henshaw and Jeremy Jordan plays Kara’s pal Winslow “Winn” Schott in the series.

There was also mention of whether or not Superman will be showing up on the series. “The movies had a charm and believability and also an epic quality”.

Now, of course Superman is alluded to both in the trailer for the series and in the pilot that was screened at San Diego Comic Con.

According to Fox News, Melissa Benoist has been working hard to fit the role of Supergirl, having been raised to avoid conflict. Trust me, you’ll want to see this one.

To that point, star Melissa Benoist said she knew “automatically it was something important and exciting and rare that I wanted to be part of” from the moment she got an email about the audition. “I really have to believe that I’m a superhero”.
