GOP Rep. Hanna Says He’s Voting For Clinton

The statement that she will not only oppose Trump, but actively work to elect Clinton shows how deep-seated Whitman’s dislike of the Republican nominee has grown.

Despite disagreeing with Clinton on “many issues”, Rep. Richard Hanna (R-NY) insists the alternative is too risky, making him the first Republican lawmaker to announce he’s supporting the Democratic nominee in November.

Among those who have voiced their support for the former first lady are businessman and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the owner of NBA’s Dallas Mavericks basketball team, Mark Cuban. “But surely you can understand the confusion, considering how Donald Trump never voted for the Iraq War, Hillary Clinton did”, Pierson said.

In an interview about his endorsement, Hanna said that the last straw was Trump’s quarrel with Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the parents of a fallen Muslim American soldier.

Hanna is retiring from the House and is not seeking re-election, leaving him more leeway to risk upsetting colleagues and voters over his break with Trump. “I will be hopeful and resolute in my belief that being a good American who loves his country is far more important than parties or winning and losing”. She also holds more commanding leads among women and non-whites.

The Clinton campaign declined to comment about Trump’s remarks.

During Tuesday’s exchange on CNN, Blitzer repeatedly asked Pierson if Trump has called the Khan family to apologize. Repeating comments made earlier in the day by Trump’s son, Eric, Pierson said Trump apologized by “honoring the service of the son”.

“I think he’s gotta put them on notice, that their inauguration will be a rhetorical – and when I mean civil disobedience, not violence – but it will be a bloodbath”, he said.

Trump “has been a demagogue this whole time, preying on people’s anxieties with loose information and salacious rhetoric, drumming up fear and hatred of the ‘other, ‘” Comella said.

Trump has been the object of scrutiny lately (and for the past year) for refusing to release his tax returns to the public, as is custom for presidential candidates.

“Trump seems to go out of his way to antagonize members of his party”, Mr. Johnson said.

“We have a great plan, and we are going to rebuild our infrastructure”.

At a State House press conference Christie said that he defends the Khan family's right to speak against Trump but declined to criticize the Republican nominee for his remarks against them
