Up 3-2 in the first set, the top-seeded Djokovic broke the third-seeded Nishikori for the first time to go up 4-2.

On a breezy day at the Aviva Centre in Toronto, Djokovic captured his fourth Rogers Cup title, his seventh tourney win this year.
Or, like Sunday’s Rogers Cup Final, he can beat you with his serve, as he demonstrated in straight sets, 6-3 7-5, against world no.6 Kei Nishikori.
What is there left to say about the dominance that Djokovic has imposed on this sport? Djokovic won the final three games, clinching the match when Nishikori couldn’t return a serve. “I struggled a little bit with the rhythm in the first couple of rounds here, but I’ve raised the level of my game as the tournament went on”.
“He played really deep, and he didn’t give me any, like, free points”. “He was hitting very good serves and very aggressive”.
Djokovic had dominated head-to-head, winning all 11 previous meetings, but Monfils entered with that nine-match streak and the confidence that comes with it.
In the doubles final, Croatia’s Ivan Dodig and Brazil’s Marcelo Melo topped Britain’s Jamie Murray and Brazil’s Bruno Soares 6-4, 6-4.
The World No.1 is the red hot favourite to win the Rio Olympics, but it is a title that has eluded Djokovic over the course of his career.
“It was great to play golf and spend time with my family but this is what I do and I want to get back and get on with it”, Moyes said. “I can not hit stronger than her because she’s very strong”.
“As soon as I recharged my batteries I was up and running and I’m really glad to start off the hard-court season with a win”. “I still think he is beatable for somebody who believes, and Andy Murray could be that person”. “He was playing well, but I couldn’t play good tennis today”. The 24-year-old Romania captured her first career Rogers Cup title after finishing runner up to Belinda Bencic of Switzerland in last year’s tournament. Halep was unable to close the deal a year ago when she became ill in the third set, handing the title to unseeded Belinda Bencic.
With the win Djokovic won his 30th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title and became the first player to win the Rogers Cup four times.
Past year in the final in Toronto, Halep retired in the third set because of illness, handing the title to Belinda Bencic. She also reached the semis at Sydney in 2014 and Osaka in 2013. “I’m going to try to extract that positivity out of that huge attention and energy and hopefully put myself in a position to battle for a medal”, he added.
Lu says he’ll have to stop Raonic’s weapon – his serve – if he’s going to be successful on center court against the world No. 7. “Sometimes it happens. Just take the positives from that and move on”.
