Samsung has launched its much-awaited Galaxy Note 7 phablet, which the company claims is the “world’s most intelligent smartphone”.

The Korean company has announced the Galaxy Note 7 at an event in NY, skipping over the number six just like Microsoft’s Windows went straight from version eight to 10. The Galaxy Note 7 and Gear VR build on the success story of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 features a Dual edge 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a Quad HD resolution and it comes protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The South-Korean firm has become the first Android OEM to step up with a new way of accessing the device. One should expect future flagship Android devices from Samsung to come standard with Iris Scanners.
If you want the ultimate protection, however, you’d have to splash for a tempered glass layer to adhere on top of your Note 7 screen, Dual edge and all, and the Supershieldz creation will foot the bill until something provenly great comes along – it’s just 0.3mm thin, and fulfills the 9H hardness specification.
AT&T is pushing a set of 3 potential deals for this device (for a limited time), each which includes buying a Galaxy Note 7 and getting something for free. It has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, same 4GB of RAM, same quick charging and quick wireless charging, and same 12-megapixel camera with f/1.7 lens and optical stabilization as the S7 series. There is a 5MP front camera, which is good enough for selfie in any challenging condition. The Note 7 also moves to USB Type-C charging, a first for Samsung devices.
Samsung also revealed a new version of its Gear VR virtual reality headset to go with the Note 7, which has been given a streamlined design as well as an increased viewing range.
“The Smart Switch feature has been enhanced further with Samsung Cloud, which supports a seamless device experience by providing continuous backup and easy transfer of content including data, apps, settings and layouts between devices”, the company said.
The Galaxy Note 7 hits shelves on August 19, with preorders starting today.
