Snapchat comes to Instagram with new Stories feature

“With Instagram Stories, you don’t have to worry about overposting”, the company said in a press release Tuesday.

The new feature is very similar to Live Stories on Snapchat.

Instagram Stories will appear atop the old feed, where well-framed and filtered images dominate.

Just when you thought you had your social media game down, Instagram comes along with yet another feature to mess with your scene.

How do I post my own Instagram story? .

But how exactly does it work? This sounds like a flawless middle ground for people who like the temporary quality of Snapchat photos but who don’t want the annoyance of having to download another app. The Facebook feature lets people share photos and videos that disappear, and users can write over the photos and add annotations… all features Snapchat is known for. “This time it’s a new tool inside Instagram called Stories”.

Anything you post in your story will disappear after 24 hours, unless you download it or take a screenshot of it. Tapping on an avatar will open a photo or a short video clip (of up to 10 seconds) that they have posted to the Stories feed within the last 24 hours. Now you can share your highlights and everything in between, too. OK, so we might be sold – even though it’s just another way to distract ourselves from real life.

A bar at the top of your Instagram feed will show the stories from the people you follow. A user.tap [s] on the profile photo to see the story. If you want to comment on something you see, there are no likes or public comments, so you’ll have to send the account a private message through Instagram Direct.

So now that we have two almost identical options to share stories, which one is better?

Not only that, but Instagram stories has amalgamated the features that people might move between apps – the best of both worlds.

“When asked about the influence of Snapchat in an interview with TechCrunch.com, Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom stated, “.they deserve all the credit”. Any chance this could backfire, though?
