J.K. Rowling Is ‘Done’ with Harry Potter After ‘Cursed Child’

She also made it clear that while she’s “thrilled to see” the next generation of the Potter family brought to life, “Harry is done now”.

Potter fans from NY to London were dressed in character for the debut, as for the author, J.K. Rowling. But, that didn’t stop fans from all generations from lining up in Concord and grabbing a copy.

“It’s the most extraordinary fandom, so I’m not surprised”, the best-selling author said.

“So I’m asking you one more time to keep secrets and let audiences enjoy “Cursed Child” with all the surprises that we’ve built into the story. We might have down to Target and see if they have it but I just want to read it”, says Harry Potter fan Lacey Sisson. It’s inspired by Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook of the same name, and will feature the book’s fictitious author, Newt Scamander.

Rowling admitted that taking her beloved characters to the stage was the ideal way to return to the story, without actually writing another novel. This book is not a novel: If you think the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a novel like earlier installments, you are mistaken.

Rowling attends the press preview of “Harry Potter & The Cursed Child” at Palace Theatre on July 30, 2016 in London, England.

Cursed Child takes place 19 years after the original series’ end when Potter is an overworked 37-year-old father of three employed by the Ministry of Magic.

The two-part play runs over five hours and has already sold out through May 2017. Sure, it’s disappointing to know this may very well be the end of the line for Harry Potter, especially if you’re a huge fan of the series and the characters.
