Korea fires another missile into sea, Seoul says

North Korea launched two ballistic missiles early on Wednesday morning, the USA military confirmed, though neither posed a direct threat to the US or its allies.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe talked of an “unforgivable act of violence”.

US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power announced plans for the meeting on Wednesday, shortly after a medium-range missile was sacked by North Korea into the Sea of Japan.

North Korea on Wednesday (Aug 3) test-fired a ballistic missile towards the Sea of Japan, South Korea said, in an apparent show of force against the planned deployment of a United States missile defence system.

The US Strategic Command said the two missiles were launched from a site in western North Korea around 7:50 am Seoul time (2250 GMT Tuesday).

It has carried out repeated launches in recent months.

It later said that the launches were part of an exercise simulating preemptive strikes against South Korea n ports and airfields used by the US military.

– March 18: North Korea for the first time since 2014 fires a medium-range Rodong missile, which flies about 800 kilometers (500 miles) before crashing in the eastern sea. The type of missile launched has a maximum range of some 810 miles.

In response to a nuclear-bomb test in January and a long-range rocket launch in February that was widely viewed as a missile test, the United Nations imposed fresh sanctions on North Korea.

“North Korea, whose provocative acts are threatening the peace and stability of the Korean peninsula and the global community, will be faced with more powerful and thorough sanctions and pressure from the worldwide community and our country”.

South Korea’s e-commerce exports posted a double-digit increase in the second quarter thanks to demand in China for South Korean cosmetics and clothing, a government report showed Wednesday.

“Our commitment to the defense of our allies, including the Republic of Korea and Japan, in the face of these threats, is ironclad”, Ross said Wednesday.

It’s a clear evidence to support a claim that THAAD in South Korea is not aimed at intercepting DPRK missiles, but supervising and pressuring China and Russian Federation as part of US efforts at its Pivot-to-Asia strategy.

A missile fired from North Korea landed in the sea off the Japanese coast, in a launch condemned as “outrageous” and a danger to peace in the region.

The office of South Korean President Park Geun-hye said Wednesday that she will attend an economic forum in Vladivostok in Russian Federation next month and discuss the North’s nuclear program with President Vladimir Putin.

North Korea-US tensions had already been stoked by Pyongyang’s fury at Washington’s decision to personally target Kim with sanctions related to human rights abuses.
