Trump Campaign Asks Surrogates to Make “URGENT PIVOT” on Khan Controversy

Dan Sullivan is condemning comments from his party’s presidential nominee about the parents of a decorated Army captain killed in Iraq. “She had nothing to say…maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say”.

“You are asking Americans to trust you with their future, let me ask you – have you even read the United States Constitution?” he said, waving a copy to loud cheers at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia.

The Khans, who immigrated to the US from Pakistan, gave a moving tribute to their son on the last night of the Democratic National Convention Thursday. And he disputed their right to question his grasp of the Constitution.

Trump, for his part, has maintained that Ghazala’s husband, Khizr Khan, “viciously attacked” him at the DNC and tweeted that the real story is about Islamic extremism. With his despicable attacks on a Gold Star family, we now know he is a cruel and cowardly man, as well.

The couple’s son, Humayun, 27, was killed by a vehicle bomb in 2004.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, who endorsed Trump before the March presidential primary, called Capt. Khan an “American hero” and added: “Would I have ever said anything about his mother standing up their silent, not saying anything?”

“I join all those who stand in support of the Khan family”, Pittard wrote in the editorial.

Khan said his wife, Ghazala Khan, did not speak because “she was just totally emotionally spent” and because she has high blood pressure and didn’t want to speak for fear she wouldn’t be able to “hold herself together” discussing her Gold Star son on stage, CNN reported.

And female activists in the Muslim American community rallied behind Khan using the social media hashtag #CanYouHearUsNow, hoping to disabuse Trump of his misconceptions about Muslim women.

Aside from the fact that most women do not have the luxury of simply finding a new career after being sexually harassed on the job, Trump said nothing about holding the perpetrator accountable.

On Monday Senator Kirk, who has said he is not voting for Trump, told reporters, “I didn’t like that”.

The media, both the left wing MSM and what little conservative media there is, and the political establishments of both the left and the right (including moderate and conservative Republicans) condemned Trump, a chorale of voices in unison worthy of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir: How dare Trump attack a Gold Star parent? John McCain, the Arizona Republican who chairs that body’s armed services committee, said he could not “emphasize enough how deeply I disagree with Mr. Trump’s statement”.

President Barack Obama addressed the Disabled American Veterans’ annual conference in Atlanta on Monday. “We heard from Mrs. Khan the sacrifices that military families make”. He said of families who have lost family members in the military service: “No one has given more to our freedom and our security than our Gold Star families….” Mr. Khan is an immigration lawyer, specializing in arranging legal immigration for people from Muslim countries, among others.

The 52-page paperback, on sale for $1 on Amazon, does not appear to be the same edition that Khan whipped out of his pocket in one of the most defining moments of last week’s Democratic National Convention.
