The Walking Dead panel has been one of the biggest events at SDCC for years now, but the hype is exponentially more intense this time around thanks to last season concluding on the biggest cliffhanger in the history of the series. Who did Negan kill?

Always a big player at the San Diego Comic-Con these days, The Walking Dead (and spin-off Fear The Walking Dead) brought cast members and, since they can rarely say much of outcome because of the series’ secrecy, trailers for both series’ new seasons.

Lauren Cohan, Christian Serratos, Danai Gurira, Sonequa Martin and Andrew Lincoln attend attend AMC’s “The Walking Dead” panel during Comic-Con International 2016 at San Diego Convention Center on July 22, 2016 in San Diego, California. In season 6 finale, Fans had been left hanging on a cliff. And we get to see the addition of a major comic character- this is our FIRST LOOK at King Ezekiel, who sadly won’t be portrayed by Dave Fennoy after all… but I’m still stupid excited to see him.

Interspersed with the happy montages were images of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s nefarious Negan, pointing his barbed wire-covered bat at every individual. “It’s a really shitty start to the season” for the characters, Lincoln said but promised that things will get better for them down the line.

The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres October 23 at 9/8c on AMC. Rick’s group are in a dire situation and we’re definitely anxious to see how they will wrestle out of the clutches of The Saviors.

What did you think about the trailer for Season 7 of The Walking Dead? The 16-episode season will be split into two eight-episode parts, with the second half of the season airing in February 2017. As previously reported, the identity of Negan’s victim will be revealed in the first episode of season 7.
