Chelsea beats AC Milan in friendly to open Vikings stadium

Chelsea came away 3-1 winners over AC Milan, as an Oscar brace helped Antonio Conte’s team end their USA tour with a convincing result.

The announced attendance was 64,101, the largest crowd to watch soccer in Minnesota.

While neither team can win the North American leg of the International Champions Cup, a second win in the preseason competition would be a big boost for either team’s preparations.

Venue: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minn.

Strike partner Bertrand Traore too had his new kit ripped – but he too donned a new one in time to nod Chelsea into the lead when Victor Moses’ shot could only be parried by Milan keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The equalizer came on 38 minutes, when the Frenchman walked away from a 20-yard free kick, which Giacomo Bonaventura duly struck up and over the wall, eluding Thibaut Courtois’ outstretched arms. New coach Antonio Conte, fresh from the Italian national team, has taken over the proud franchise.

Kante signed for Leicester City for a fee of €8 million in 2015, winning the Premier League in his only season before signing for Chelsea.

AC Milan, on tour without stars Carlos Bacca and Mattia De Sciglio, is also trying to re-establish itself as a European power after finishing seventh in Serie A.

Brazil global Oscar then made sure of the result with a clinical finish late in the game, slotting the ball past Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Kante trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Friday following a break after helping his country reach the final of Euro 2016 and could be in line to play against AC Milan in the International Champions Cup in the early hours of Thursday morning.
