Fans will attend Waterstones at 8pm before beginning the countdown to the midnight release with a screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, wizard-themed puzzles, quizzes and a magician. Some are less than enthusiastic about reading a play, but if Harry Potter fans are willing to deal with the clunky Pottermore site, they’ll get excited for anything. And on the day of the launch, loyal Harry Potter fans will be able to enjoy Potter treats like butterbeer, hot cocoa, lightning scar cookies, and sorting hat cupcakes that we have created in partnership with Moshes. “I have mixed feelings about it”, she said, allowing that “it’s exciting to do Harry Potter things again”. Several are hosting parties leading up to the book’s midnight release. That was the same spot occupied by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2007.

But now finally we have the next chapter of the story with Harry Potter and The Cursed Child – only this time it’s a two-part play rather than a book.

The play sees Harry as an “overworked” employee of the Ministry of Magic and centers on his and Ginny Weasley’s son Albus and author J.K. Rowling recently pleaded with fans not to spoil the plot of the play for others.

Because it’s 2016, you can have the book delivered to your house at midnight.. The producers’ synopsis says that “while Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted”. “This is a little tentative, because none of us knows for sure what the play will be like, but this is our plan at this point”. There will be an undisclosed number of book copies for sale as well.

The idea is to tie in with another recent Rowling headline; the Mount Greylock siting of the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, said supermarket store director David Smith. She’s planning a costumed birthday party for later this fall, and everyone has to come as a Harry Potter character.
