Child with double-hand transplant throws at Camden Yards
The surgery came after he developed an infection that forced doctors to amputate his hands and feet when he was two years old. He also needed a kidney transplant from his mother. A year ago, the nine-year-old became the first pediatric recipient of a bilateral hand transplant. Harvey endured 11 hours of surgery at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, followed by months of physical therapy. “He’s already done so many unbelievable things”.

Zion Harvey, 8, the first child in the world to receive a double hand transplant, was invited to throw the ceremonial first pitch at Tuesday night’s Baltimore Orioles game at Camden Yards.
What’s more? The Baltimore Orioles, who are now the number one seed in the American League East with an overall 60-45 record, went on to win the game.

With Harvey finally having gained enough confidence to throw a baseball, Jones made sure his first toss would be a meaningful one.
