The year-old controversy surrounding Archie Panjabi’s departure from CBS’ The Good Wife lingered over NBC’s TCA panel for Blindspot, which is adding Panjabi as a new cast member for Season 2.
“I’ve always loved to do stuff that is completely out of my comfort zone. I would be terrified to do something like that, which is why I finally decided I wanted to do it”.
The addition of Panjabi, says producer Martin Gero, is part of the effort to reset the series and bring in more viewers.
Panjabi won an Emmy in 2010 for her portrayal of hard-edged investigator Kalinda Sharma. While Panjabi said that while she can not give away too much, she did say that her new role is surrounded by mystery and that the character is “tough, tenacious and unpredictable”. She is wild. “We are incredibly proud of the work we did on Season 1, but when you are doing the first season of a show, it’s like you are building the boat while the boat is in the water”, Gero said.
