Ex-Everton Star Reunited With Former Boss David Moyes at Sunderland

Steven Pienaar is trying his luck at English Premier League Sunderland where he hopes to be reunited with long-time manager David Moyes.

Pienaar was signed twice by Moyes at Everton and the Scot is a known admirer of the former Bafana Bafana skipper.

Moyes knows all about the South African and, with the Black Cats’ squad in desperate need of strengthening, may be ready to hand the 34-year-old a short-term contract.

Unfortunately he failed to impress while at White Hart Lane and was soon handed a loan-deal back to Merseyside before Everton re-signed him in 2012 for £4.5m.

The midfielder left Everton at the end of last season following the club’s decision not to renew his contract.

In his two spells at Goodison Park he racked up 189 league appearances, with Moyes managing him from 2007 to 2011, while he also had an injury-hit two years at Tottenham between 2010-12.

In addition to the former Dortmund and Ajax man Steven Pienaar being on trial, as is Frenchman Charles N’Zogbia, 30, after being released by Aston Villa.

The Black Cats have yet to make a breakthrough in the transfer market with the club stuck in limbo last month before Moyes replaced new England coach Sam Allardyce.
