New Hampshire voters unmoved by Trump’s criticism of Ayotte

Asked if she thinks Ayotte should pull her support completely, Rescigno said, “I think if you pull completely back, she’s going to lose too many people who are on his side”.

“Kelly has a strong record as an independent voice who delivers results for New Hampshire, and that’s what our campaign is focused on”, said Ayotte spokeswoman Liz Johnson. “As a State Senator, she worked tirelessly to achieve marriage equality, helping make New Hampshire one of the first states to pass legislation ensuring access to legal marriage for all”.

Ayotte, who has twice denounced Trump’s inflammatory comments about veterans, is nonetheless still playing the good soldier. Ayotte was trailing her Democratic challenger, Gov. Maggie Hassan, 45 percent to 42 percent, while Trump was trailing Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, 39 percent to 37 percent. John McCain, R-Ariz., is “not a war hero” because he was captured during the Vietnam War, Ayotte said Trump’s remarks were “offensive and he should apologize not only to Senator McCain, but to all service members and veterans who have put their lives on the line in service to our nation”.

Mr. Bolton has endorsed and offered financial support through his Super Pac to 139 GOP candidates in the last two years.

“They’re independent people”, Eileen Sullivan Tormey said of Ayotte and Trump.

“It certainly is an issue about her courage”, Sullivan said. While politicians at the Democratic National Convention aren’t even addressing the threat of ISIS or terrorism, and instead trying to score as many political points as possible, Kelly knows that results are what matters – not the silly rhetoric. I’m doing very well in New Hampshire. According to the Real Clear Politics polling average, Ayotte maintains a slim margin over Hassan heading into the November election.

“Ayotte’s decision to support Trump for president, and to continue to stand by him as he reinforces every day just how temperamentally unfit he is to serve as president, raises serious questions about her judgment”.

Rodriguez says Ayotte represents the old political system, which he feels is killing the country.

“It’s not surprising that she is having to walk that tightrope between not wanting to be seen at Trump’s side, but not alienating herself from Republican voters who will find reasons to vote for Republican candidates up and down the ticket”, said Smith.

Facing a wave of intra-party criticism, Donald Trump is signalling that he may not support several high-profile Republicans in their 2016 re-election bids.
