Facebook Messenger’s Secret Conversations With End-to-End Encryption Starts Rolling Out
Facebook’s Secret Conversation feature works somewhat similar to WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption, according to a report by Android Headlines.

Facebook’s plans of going the Snapchat way is being implemented as we speak. So the desktop version of messenger will not be able to avail the feature.
After last month’s announcement about an end-to-end encryption feature for Messenger, Facebook has now started to roll out a “secret conversation feature” on the app, which will enable users to self destruct their conversations after setting a timer to it. However, Facebook has begun the roll out in stages and it isn’t available for everyone yet. To enable this feature, users need to open the Messenger app, select the user they want to have a Secret Conversation with, tap on the username, and then activate the Secret Conversations feature.
Apart from the features that has been launched a few weeks ago on WhatsApp on iOS such as video calling, as well as zoom in and out on video recording, sending large emojis in chats, and chat loading speed up. The conversations will also be limited to just one device. Although, the verification process is optional, and the messages will be encrypted regardless of the device keys being compared, but here’s how you can check. Also, the conversations will be listed separately on the app.

The feature is being rolled out slowly and might take a bit of time before it reaches you. With the feature, the Messenger app will get a toggle in each conversation. WhatsApp says even they can’t decode the messages you send once its encrypted. Now if you want these messages to disappear after a certain amount of time, you can tap the timer icon and set a timer for these messages to disappear. It’s also unclear if Facebook is only releasing Secret Conversations to beta testers at this point or offering it to some regular users as an A/B test.
