Snapchat v Instagram: Celebrities are picking sides

Still, here I am, already four images deep in my first ever Instagram story – I have yet to update my Snapchat story today – and I must admit, dang Instagram, you did goooood on this one. Instagram Stories will be rolled out in coming weeks to versions of the application tailored for smartphones powered by Android or Apple iOS software.

Instagram Stories allow the users to share multiple photos and videos in a slideshow format. He admitted that his company’s new feature was essentially a copy of Snapchat, and said that this was because “we need to have a place where you feel free to post whatever you want without the nagging fear of, did someone like that or not?” The Snapchat-like feature also lets people playfully drawn on or add text to images, which are presented in a slide-show style once posted. The Instagram Stories features is just like Snapchat as in this users can share photos and videos from their day that will disappear after 24 hours. The new Memories feature was created to let people only save images, referred to as Snaps, that they send.

Snapchat is popular with younger people who want to shield their posts from the eyes of their parents, who are more likely to be on Facebook, whose 1.7 billion monthly users tend to be older.

INSTAGRAM, the world’s most darling picture-sharing app that blew everyone’s minds with filters (RIP, Kelvin), has released a new update – that looks a lot like Snapchat.

Another major edge Instagram Stories has over Snapchat is that no one can see when you screenshot, meaning you can live your creepiest truth while perusing. If someone regrets posting a story, the app gives them the option of deleting it.

There is an option to hide the story from particular people, even if they are in the contact list. Alternatively, users can also choose to make their Stories private and only accessible by a limited number of viewers.

You can block people from seeing your Story: Both apps offer this customisation in case there’s someone (maybe your boss?) who shouldn’t be seeing your drunken antics. No one can like or comment the post.

Wired wrote: “Again, it can’t be stressed enough how much this isn’t just like Snapchat, it is Snapchat”. They disappear after 24 hours and won’t appear on your profile grid or in feed.
