Microsoft’s Cortana Beta can now replace Google Now on Android devices

Microsoft is hoping for a version that most Android users will experiment with, however the update still doesn’t include a “Hey Cortana” support, largely due to the limitations set that prevents Cortana from listening for commands.

Microsoft has updated its Cortana for Android beta app to enable it to replace Google Now. According to WinBeta, you can’t say “Hey Cortana” to summon the digital assistant like you can with Google Now, and there are other ways of bringing up Google Now as well.

Users who have installed the update are reporting that despite some missing features, Cortana for Android runs smoothly, especially if their devices are running Windows 10 and its notifications system. The app can correctly pronounce the phrase for you through your watch. text can also be copy-pasted from and to other apps for translation.

The watch app can read out translations in any of the supported languages, including Spanish, Thai and Chinese.

Microsoft has been making some killer Android apps lately and now it seems the company has come up with another way to have its software replace standard Google apps on Android phones.

Cortana offers a lot of similar features, like the ability to inform you of traffic, the weather, sports scores, information on upcoming flights and more.

Cortana is Windows’ version of Apple’s Siri and Google Now.

Microsoft’s voice assistant, Cortana, is shaping up to be a great alternative to Google Now. However, if you are not in the mood to wait for the download link to be made available to your inbox then you can download Cortana for Android from APKMirror.

This is one of the settings you can change, and it’s a great place to start if you want to partially disable Cortana but still leave the voice assistant functioning for searches and help with Internet browsing.
