#ColbertNation. Stephen Colbert Thanks Jon Stewart For Saving Him
Ailes took a few more shots at Stewart, assuming the host spends each night crushed “because Fox News beats him on the amount of money we make, on ratings and popularity”. His last night as host of “The Daily Show” was watched by 3.5 million people, 1.8 million of whom were in the coveted 18- to 49-year-old demographic.

Colbert, who begins hosting CBS’s The Late Show in a month, summed it up by thanking Stewart for boosting the careers of so many comedians and performers who’d worked at the show over the years. You are infuriatingly good at your job!
Jon Stewart ended his 16-year run Thursday night on “The Daily Show”. “You are a great artist and a good man”.
“So long, jackass”, Sen.
“The thing I’m going to miss most about this place is the people I work with”, Stewart said as he introduced the segment, getting choked up again. “The best defense against bullshit is vigilance, so if you smell something, say something“.
Stewart, who has hosted the Comedy Central program through multiple presidential elections, announced earlier this year that he would be leaving the show.
Fellow New Jersey resident Springsteen provided Stewart’s last “moment of Zen”. Colbert opened by telling Stewart he couldn’t leave without saying goodbye to his Sam, and after Stewart asked why he had to be Frodo, Colbert came up with the ideal response. Video messages coming from US Secretary of State John Kerry and Republican Senator John McCain were also part of the grand finale, according to BBC.
After being thanked by Colbert on behalf of the entire team of correspondents for changing their lives for the better, Stewart went on to show the team behind the scenes that made the Daily Show run every single day.
They laced their farewells with some barbs.
Several politicians, like Hillary Clinton and Chris Christie, repaid Stewart for his frequent jabs with unkind remarks in a montage.
