West Ham striker switch is OFF

West Ham striker Diafra Sakho has edged closer to his proposed move to West Brom, after agreeing personal terms with Tony Pulis’ side.

However, Venezuela global Rondon now holds the title of being West Brom’s record buy following his £12million arrival from Zenit St Petersburg 12 months ago.

Sakho was very much an Allardyce target, rather than one for successor David Moyes, with the new Sunderland boss assessing transfer targets with fresh eyes, albeit the club are still in talks for former loanee Yann M’Vila.

Fletcher told the Express & Star: “He’ll be the first to tell you he’s a lot fitter this season”.

“I thought he had a fantastic season last season and I think he’s going to carry it on this season, if we can get more crosses into the box”.

It was thought that the Senegalese star had been angling for a move away from the Olympic Stadium this summer as he reportedly refused to go on the club’s pre-season tour of Austria after he handed in a transfer request.

The deal will see Sakho becomes West Brom’s record signing, eclipsing the £12m signing of Salomon Rondon from Zenit St Petersburg last summer.

Since his move to England the 26-year-old has made 44 appearances and scored a respectable 15 goals.
