Speaking in Hindi at the conference, Singh said there should be “strongest action not only against terrorists or organizations but also against those individuals, organizations and nations who support terrorism”.

The last meeting of Saarc interior/home ministers’ conference was held in Kathmandu in 2014.

Home ministry sources say Singh is expected to raise the issue of Pakistan sponsoring acts of terror in India.

He categorically stated that there is no good or bad terrorist.

Addressing the delegates Arif Ahmed Khan said that it was a matter of pride that the Saarc countries represent a region that shares common borders and cultural similarities.

He added, “We believe that SAARC must position itself to engage interested states and global organisations to win-win complementarities for social, economic progress in the region”.

Nawaz Sharif said such an approach is in sync with his Government’s vision of peace for development and peaceful neighbourhood.

Referring to Pakistani government’s declaration of Hizbul militant Burhan Wani as a “martyr”, he said, “There should be no glorification or eulogising of terrorists as martyrs”.

“It is an honour for Pakistan to be hosting the SAARC interior minister’s conference”, he said. Pakistani interior minister invited Rajnath to the lunch before walking off towards the venue, but Rajnath left the venue without attending it. India’s home minister arrived in Islamabad to attend a one-day regional meeting as tensions flared between the nuclear-armed rivals over unrest in disputed Kashmir. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed the need for member states to collectively respond to shared challenges and use the Saarc platform to share and benefit from each other’s wisdom and experience.

In occupied Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyet Conference has appealed to the United Nations and world leaders to come to the rescue of subjugated people of occupied Kashmir. Malik is the Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front based in Kashmir.

Singh’s arrival in Pakistan was also preceded by protests led by Hafiz Saeed, leader of the Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD), which serves as a front for Lashkar-e-Toiba.

After returning to India, the home minister said that he would unfold the facts relating to his visit to Parliament.
