The ANC led with a big margin in the newly-planned municipality with 84.64%, while EFF had 8.49% and the DA 0.85%.
Election results started trickling in at 9:30 last night and votes continued to be counted on Thursday morning.
At 6am, the counting for Tshwane had showed the DA leading the ANC 48.63% to 39%, and in Johannesburg the DA had led 45.68% to the ANC’s 39.08%. If this continues to the be the case, and the DA and ANC continue to fail to cross the 50% barrier (DA on 44% and ANC 41 right now) then the EFF’s 10% will be the difference between winning and losing.

DA leader in the province Andrew Louw says the growth in the Northern Cape is a positive sign that DA policies are working effectively and that support for the party is growing.

However, he says there are areas where support for the ANC has dropped slightly and the party will have to work on those areas.
