As Donald Trump continues to feud with the parents of Army Captain Humayun Khan, a Muslim American who was killed by a auto bomb in 2004 while serving in Iraq, visitors to Arlington National Cemetery are stopping by the fallen soldier’s grave to pay their respects.

His good health, coupled with what the Times termed an “athletic build” from playing a handful of sports and the fact that he had just graduated from college in 1968 – the peak of USA intervention in the war – seemingly made Trump a flawless candidate for the draft.

For Donald Trump, it’s become a familiar pattern. “I can’t fight. So the best thing I do was quiet”, she said. “To me it’s really a matter of character for Mr. Trump”. He criticized Trump’s call for a temporary ban on Muslims from entering the United States. In this case, Wagner said the comments might have been made with a political calculation.

Khan’s life and sacrifice”, University President Teresa Sullivan said in a public statement. “In his actions of cruelty against Gold Star Families demand all of us to stand up against it”, Inslee said. Go look at the graves of the courageous patriots who died defending America – you will see all faiths, genders and ethnicities.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush tweeted, “This is so incredibly disrespectful of a family that endured the ultimate sacrifice for our country”.

Trump countered Khan’s speech in an ABC interview on Sunday, saying he has made sacrifices for the United States in the form of hard work and success in business.

House Speaker Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell both have come out in praise of the Khans and their son but said nothing of Trump.

The back and forth between Trump and the grieving Gold Star family has continued into this week, leading many Republicans to rebuke Trump.

Now he’s also defending Republicans who have sparred with the GOP presidential nominee, particularly Arizona Sen. To Mr. and Mrs. Khan: thank you for immigrating to America. “We are a testament to the goodness of this country”, he said.
