Man Utd made late attempt to beat Arsenal for Kelechi Nwakali

Nigerian youngster, Kelechi Nwakali, has officially completed his transfer to Arsenal. The Gunners have completed the signing of Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano and Rob Holding thus far in the transfer window and are in the market to complete a couple more before the end of the summer transfer window. The 18-year-old led Nigeria to World Cup success in Chile last year and has been billed to be among the hottest prospects in Africa.

The Nigerian midfielder was originally set to sign for the Gunners back in January but the deal was put on hold until he turned 18 due to Federation Internationale de Football Association regulations. “He signed the contract 3pm today (Wednesday)”, Emeka Amajiriaku said.

Nwakali flew to London in the company of his elder brother, Allwell Nwakali to conclude the deal.

Reports in England have suggested that Arsenal beat off competition from Manchester City and Chelsea to sign Nwakali.

The new Premier League campaign resumes on Saturday, August 13, with Arsenal’s opening game against Liverpool at the Emirate Stadium. “The contract is for five years and they are in London to sign the contract”.

The midfielder is expected to go straight into Arsenal’s youth side.
