Donald Trump holds two thumbs up during a campaign event at Briar Woods High School on Tuesday in Ashburn, Va. In the past week he has gotten bogged down in a public spat with the parents of an American soldier killed in Iraq.
Republicans are increasingly, and publicly, frustrated with their nominee over an nearly baffling number of decisions like his public feud with the Khan family, and his shock announcement to The Washington Post that he was not ready to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan in his August 9 Wisconsin primary. Donald Trump is struggling to maintain his grip on the Republican Party, as Establishment-types make themselves scarce, or even plot their defections to Hillary Clinton.
Pence said Trump “strongly encouraged” him to endorse Ryan, who faces a primary next week, and he said Trump’s campaign was coming together.
“Staying on message is absolutely key”, Caputo told Reuters. Trump hopes that will mean putting in play states in the industrial Midwest.
There is no rational case for supporting Trump that involves policy, because he has presented little to be judged on.
A CNN/ORC survey this week gave Clinton a 9-percentage point lead against Trump in a two-way matchup, 52% to 43%.
Clinton raised $63 million in July for her campaign, as well as $26 million for the Democratic National Committee and state parties, bringing her total monthly fundraising to about $90 million.
NBC reports the effort is in “early stages” and would likely require the assistance of Trump’s three children, who are some of his closest campaign advisers. However, most of the poll participants said that Clinton is dishonest.
Donald Trump’s disastrous week is only getting worse.
Those of us who trust and love Bernie know that he will fight on in other ways, and we look forward to the continued good works he will do. According to ABC’s John Karl, a few senior Republicans are planning for what could happen if Trump drops out, or if the GOP is forced to boot him from the ticket to save what’s left of the Republican Party.
“I would say in the last couple of weeks, he has been remarkably underperforming and we’ll see whether or not he can take a deep breath and learn these lessons”, said former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Fox Business News.
“It just seems that he’s, at times, hell-bent on losing a very winnable election to a very seriously flawed candidate – Hillary Clinton”, Dent said. “Many are listed as ‘imported,’ and we haven’t come across any that were definitely made in the United States”.
“Let me set the record straight: I have at all times been in compliance with the immigration laws of this country”.
