Top Trump aide acknowledges campaign split over backing Ryan
High-ranking officials have made media aware of their own frustrations with the campaign – like the erratic candidate who’s perpetually distracted by petty personal feuds, clubbing rivals in every direction and sometimes forgetting to swing at Democrats.

It was the latest in a string of recent presidential rebukes to the GOP nominee.
In Ohio recently, Clinton urged Republicans “to pick country over party”. If they want to be president they have got to start acting like (a) president. “Democrats, Republicans independents. We’re going to pull America together again”.
Trump had a short-lived bump in the polls after the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in late July, when Reuters polling showed him slightly ahead of Clinton for the first time since May.
If Trump is convinced to drop out, here is how the Republican Party would have to proceed, according to its committee rules.
President Obama commuted the sentences of 214 federal inmates Wednesday, (August 3) making the action the single largest commutation in the nation’s history. That’s an argument they did not make against former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney or Arizona Sen. Ted Cruz’s father had been involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and the nominee joked that if he lost the race he’d blame his running mate.
As Trump used the issue to assail Clinton, he faced new questions about his description of a video he suggested was taken by Iranian forces removing bags of money from a plane.
“I’m not going to go into details into the nature of the security briefings both candidates received”.
A small team is working on Republican outreach at Clinton’s campaign headquarters in Brooklyn, largely focused on fielding calls from Republicans interested in giving money and helping with fundraising.
A long list of influential Republicans, including Meg Whitman, have now opposed Trump, some saying they will campaign against Trump and even vote for Clinton in November.
With the political conventions barely over, the Republican effort to fundraise for Clinton is at an early stage.
This week has also seen at least one elected Republican and other well-known GOP insiders going public with their intention to vote for Clinton.
Strategists suggest the campaign still has time to right itself, even as some Republicans head for the exits.
“I have not endorsed Donald Trump… because of all these incendiary comments over the previous year: John McCain and the POWs, the disabled, the Mexicans, the Muslims, the women comments, the David Duke debacle, the IN judge, and now the Khan family situation”, Dent said.
But some longtime GOP voters appear persuadable, such as Don Campbell, executive director of the National Electrical Contractors Association, and a Republican who’s backing Clinton.
“Everything he’s made he’s made somewhere else”, Ms Clinton said as she toured a Las Vegas electric manufacturer on Thursday afternoon.
“People ask me, ‘What do you think about Trump?’ Honestly, I don’t care for him much”.
“It’s so sad, so disgusting”, Trump said of the payment.
CALLER: Right. I don’t think it’s revenge on Trump’s part.
“Of course the election won’t be rigged”.
It’s unclear what footage Trump was referring to.
Obama did say, however, that should Trump beat Clinton, he would fulfill his duty to help the incoming president despite his criticisms of the billionaire’s fitness for the Oval Office. It’s not a bad place for them to be.
For some Republicans, what set them off was Trump refusing to support Ryan in his primary challenge next week.
